D&D Therapy

During my training, I co-created a D&D-based therapy modality for treating groups. A colleague and I co-run groups that use role-playing situations to address real-world concerns. The group is a mix between a traditional process group and a normal tabletop gaming session. The tabletop game operates as a safe space to try new things and learn lessons about social interactions. Our players work through small adventures into large stories that aim to meet their clinical needs on an individual level.

I have also co-created an outreach workshop modality of using TTRPGs to promote mental wellness in non-clinical ways. This workshop is co-run with students and offered openly to the campus population. The workshop is an ongoing TTRPG campaign that is built alongside students to address the concerns and life lessons experienced by a university student population.

Our groups serve clients across many age groups and clinical concerns. Typically we serve clients who struggle with depression and anxiety, though the group can work for anyone who needs social contact or skills.
